Hip Hop Dance Gains Popularity

Hip hop found its beginnings in the 1960’s as a form of street dancing in NY called “break dancing.” Soon after the west coast had its own form on hip hop called popping, locking and the robot. You may see nods to those dance moves in commercials or movies set in the 60’s and 70s.
